Cardiff is set to receive £20 million in new UK Government funding – and local people will decide how the money is used. The funding, part of the Pride in Place programme, will give residents the power to shape improvements in their neighbourhoods, from revitalising high streets to protecting cherished community spaces.
The programme is designed to put decisions directly in the hands of communities, with residents asked to share their ideas on what matters most – whether that’s improving local facilities, tackling graffiti, creating safer public spaces or backing projects that bring people together.
Cardiff West MP Alex Barros-Curtis said:
"This is fantastic news for Cardiff. What’s unique about this programme is that local people will decide how the £20 million is spent. Whether it’s improving football pitches, restoring community halls, tackling anti-social behaviour or cleaning up our high streets – it’s up to you.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer added:

The Pride in Place programme is part of the UK Government’s wider Plan for Change, which is investing £214 million across Wales to restore pride in communities and give people greater control over the future of their local areas.
